General Counselling

The Teen Health Site offers free, confidential individual counselling for youth 12-24 years old in the following areas:

Family Conflict            Relationship problems with friends            Grief

Depression                  Anxiety                                                    Substance Abuse

Eating Disorders          Self-Harm                                               Unplanned Pregnancy

Suicide Thoughts         Other general teen concerns

 

Appointments are preferred for all counseling services however walk-ins  will also been seen. Please call and speak to the intake worker for more information 519.253.8481 ext. 0. Youth must consent to receive counselling services.

We also provide student placement opportunities for various disciplines such as Social Work and Psychology from various accredited  institutions including the University of Windsor. Additionally we participate in various community research projects with  such partners as Windsor Regional Children's Centre, The University of Windsor and the OZAD research institute .

 

Mosaics (Mood) Group

A therapeutic treatment  group for youth ages 16-24 who are experiencing depression and/or anxiety with negative coping behaviors (self-harm, drug abuse, anger, etc.) The group is offered once weekly for  8-10 sessions. Please call 519.253.8481 ext. 0 for dates and times for the next available group.

 

Community Capacity Building Program (Substance Abuse)

The Community Capacity Building Program provides assessment, treatment, and service coordination for adolescents and their families who are experiencing substance abuse issues and are referred by the Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Society (WECAS).  The program is delivered as part of a community collaborative effort that includes Windsor Essex Children’s Aid Society, Windsor Regional Children’s Centre and Maryvale Adolescent and Family Services. Adolescent Substance Abuse Program

The Substance Abuse Treatment Program offers counselling to young people who are concerned about their alcohol or drug use.  The program also serves the needs of those clients seeking support in caring for those in their lives who have addiction issues.  The program offers assessment, individual counselling and follow up.   The goal of the program is to assist clients in identifying their needs, addressing their issues, and encouraging youth to make positive healthy changes in their lives.

WECHC  is also an active member of the community Providers of Addiction Treatment Committee (Committee of 16+ local Addiction and Mental Health agencies). Please contact Michelle  at 519.253.8481 ext. 239.

 

Parenting Fix

Are you a parent or caregiver of a teen who is using drugs? The Parenting Fix program is a support group designed to provide parents or caregivers with the informational tools needed to address the complex issue of substance abusing teens.  The group takes place at 1585 Ouellette Ave.

Your teen does not have to be a client of the Teen Health Centre for parents or caregivers to register.

Changes

Changes is a cognitive based, support group designed for individuals ages 18-24 years wanting to change their drug behaviors.  Topics include: addiction, understanding triggers, establishing healthy relationships, co-dependency, and relapse prevention strategies.  This group takes place one a week for eight weeks at 1585 Ouellette Ave.

Off the CUFF” - Support Group for Caregivers and Parents of Teens (age 12-24) with Eating Disorders

This is a support program for caregivers and parents who are struggling to help their teens battle this all encompassing disorder.  The program runs once weekly for 11 weeks,. Participants must register in advance.  The group takes place at 1585 Ouellette Ave.

Your teen does not have to be a client of the Teen Health Centre for parents or caregivers  to register.
